Flat Roofing Solutions
IDF offers a variety of roofing insulation options to suit individual project specifications with solutions for acoustic performance, compressive strength, fire performance, sustainability, and thermal efficiency. Our flat roofing insulation products are manufactured to the highest standards, utilizing cutting-edge technology and precision engineering.
EPS Insulation
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) offers an exceptional balance of thermal performance and structural integrity, with increased compressive strength variants available to meet specific loading requirements. The material's inherent flexibility allows for fabrication to suit roof falls from 1:30 to 1:120 specifications.
The thermal performance of EPS ranges from 0.032 to 0.040 W/mK depending on density, while compressive strength options extend from 70kPa to 200kPa. This versatility makes EPS particularly suitable for large span roof areas where lightweight construction is essential.
Applications
Large span roof areas
Complex drainage schemes
Refurbishment projects with limited structural capacity
Cost-effective industrial building solutions.
XPS Insulation
Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) represents the ultimate in high-performance insulation where exceptional compressive strength is paramount. With compressive strength capabilities extending to 700kPa, XPS is primarily utilized in inverted flat roofing applications and scenarios involving high structural loading.
The material's virtually zero water absorption and closed-cell structure prevents moisture ingress, ensuring no performance degradation in wet conditions. Thermal performance ranges from 0.029 to 0.036 W/mK.
Applications
Inverted roofing systems with ballast or paving
Plaza deck applications
Car park deck insulation
High-loading industrial flooring.
PIR Insulation
Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation represents the pinnacle of thermal performance, with thermal conductivity as low as 0.024 W/mK, making it one of the most thermally efficient insulation materials available. This exceptional performance allows architects and specifiers to meet increasingly demanding thermal requirements while minimizing insulation thickness.
PIR's versatility extends to its compatibility with various waterproofing systems. The material is available with tissue facings for torch-on applications, foil facings for enhanced vapor control, and glass tissue variants for compatibility with adhesive systems. Our manufacturing capabilities allow for pre-bonding of PIR boards to thicknesses over 600mm, creating highly efficient single-layer solutions.
Applications
New build commercial and residential projects
Refurbishment schemes
Warm roof constructions
Hybrid roofing systems
Green roof applications
Mineral Wool Insulation
Our mineral wool insulation utilizes non-combustible stone wool technology, delivering exceptional fire performance classifications alongside superior acoustic properties. With non-combustible classification to EN 13501-1 Class A1 and a melting point exceeding 1000°C, the material maintains structural integrity even under extreme fire exposure.
From an acoustic perspective, mineral wool provides superior sound absorption properties and effective airborne sound insulation. Technical specifications include thermal conductivity ranging from 0.034 to 0.040 W/mK, with density options from 90kg/m³ to 150kg/m³.
Applications
Schools, hospitals
Public buildings
Multi-residential developments
Commercial buildings requiring high fire resistance ratings
Heritage buildings.
Cork insulation represents the pinnacle of sustainable building materials, offering 100% natural insulation derived from the bark of cork oak trees in Portugal. This remarkable material provides 50-60 year durability while delivering excellent thermal and acoustic performance.
As a completely renewable resource where bark regenerates every 9-12 years, cork actively supports sustainable forestry practices. The material is carbon negative, storing more CO2 than it emits during its lifecycle. Performance characteristics include thermal conductivity ranging from 0.037 to 0.042 W/mK, with natural resistance to moisture, insects, and rodents.
Applications
Eco-friendly building certifications (BREEAM, LEED)
Historic building renovations
Green building projects requiring natural materials.
